BOTHWAYS POST v8 — ALL-PRINTED ASSEMBLY — mbr54808 This replaces the earlier v8 draft that used metal hardware. Use this complete set together; its threaded parts are not compatible with that earlier draft. All fasteners and the turning key are printed. No metal screws, nuts, inserts, glue, or separately purchased assembly tools are required. CHANGES The lower mounting square turns +20 degrees about the pole, counterclockwise viewed from above. The upper mount remains at +45 degrees, giving 25 degrees between the two existing Halloween sign blades. The front of the post is smooth: the two visible front holes are removed. The post prints in two lengthwise halves on broad mating faces, about 30 mm maximum print height instead of the original 190-mm upright tower. Two printed alignment dowels locate the halves. Four printed thumbscrews enter from behind and engage threads formed directly inside the front half. No nuts are needed. The signs sit in cradles with square locating pegs and retaining lips. Printed caps prevent them lifting or pulling off. Four recessed printed fasteners hold the caps. The wider lower cap gives access around the upper mount; install the lower sign and cap before the upper sign. Existing Halloween sign artwork is unchanged; no holes need drilling in either sign. A broad, flush printed screw locks the post to the base from underneath. The socket floor is thicker (6 mm), and the foot is shortened by 2 mm to preserve the assembled pole height of 194 mm. The map, orange marker and centered Comic Sans mbr54808 underside engraving are preserved. WHAT TO PRINT 00-fit-test-v8.3mf — optional but recommended first: shortened post/cradle, wide lower cap, foot/socket coupons, matching printed fasteners and turning key. It checks actual sign retention and thread fit with your filament and printer. 01-post-and-clamps-v8.3mf — two pole halves, wide lower cap, narrow upper cap, and two alignment dowels. 02-map-base-mbr54808-v8.3mf — replacement map base, sage and orange. 03-printed-fasteners-v8.3mf — four large scalloped post thumbscrews, four smaller cap screws, one broad base screw, and one flat turning key. All are printable. Print 01, 02 and 03 once for the complete replacement; reuse the existing two 01-cumberland-halloween-v2 sign blades. Print 00 first if checking fit. The test parts are unnumbered coupons, not extra complete models. Reuse mbr54808 only for this replacement physical piece; additional complete copies need separate IDs. PRINT SETTINGS Bambu A1, 0.4-mm nozzle, Generic PLA, textured PEI, 0.20-mm layers, five walls, six top/bottom layers. Post/base/test: 40% gyroid. Fastener plate: 95% gyroid. Keep the saved orientations at 100% scale. Supports and outside brims are saved on 00 and 01. Bridges are excluded from automatic support to keep the short threaded cavities clear. Base and fastener plates need no supports. The 00 test fasteners use its 40% profile; the full 03 fasteners have the denser profile. All threads are custom coarse 3-mm pitch, not standard metal screw threads. Nominal outside diameters: post/base 8 mm; caps 6 mm. Digital allowance is 0.25 mm radial and 0.12 mm per thread flank; this is not a measured printer fit. Do not substitute a hardware-store M6 or M8 screw. ASSEMBLY 1. Cool the plate, remove brims and supports, and clean loose strings from the threads and mating faces. Keep the actual thread ridges and retaining lips. Try the coupon first. Start each printed screw gently, backing it off a little until the threads align, then turn clockwise from its head. If it jams, back out and check for support remnants or first-layer flare. Do not force it. 2. Insert the two printed dowels into the pole's alignment holes. Close the halves evenly. Insert the four large scalloped screws from the back and tighten with fingertips until snug. The post front has no fastener openings. 3. Seat the keyed foot in the matching v8 base with the shoulder resting on its top. Use the broad printed base screw from underneath. Turn it with the printed flat key until snug. Its head should remain recessed so the base is flat on the table. 4. Place the lower Halloween sign over its square peg and onto the lower shelf. Fit the WIDE cap and its two small printed screws. Use the supplied printed key. The heads sit inside the cap's circular recesses; leave them flush or slightly below the surface. Tighten only enough to hold the cap securely. 5. Install the upper sign with the NARROW cap and the two remaining small screws. Reverse this order for disassembly. The sign borders, not the lettering, should sit within the retaining lips. 6. Gently check pull-off, vertical lift, rocking, the post seam and base joint. Stop if a cap cracks, a thread strips or a joint needs force. Printed threads are not metal; use light hand pressure, not a power driver. Lift by the base. The printed key is part of the set. It fits the recessed cap and base fasteners and can also turn the post thumbscrews. Normal brim/support cleanup is still necessary. No purchased assembly hardware is required. VERIFICATION Final meshes, native Bambu slicing, actual extrusion bounds, support/brim and purge-tower clearance, preserved map and underside lettering are checked. The exact existing Halloween blade meshes clear the assembled cradles/caps. Digital tests check capture in six translation directions, printed fastener clearance and fractional turns along the 3-mm helical withdrawal path. The preview shows the printed fasteners installed. Physical fit, adhesion, thread strength and durability remain UNVERIFIED. The photo is consistent with a displaced or unsupported print followed by extrusion into air; it does not establish fracture as the cause. The low, broad layout reduces the tall-tower risk but cannot guarantee adhesion. Check first layers on a clean plate. No physical print has been started. CLI import and slicing are checked; desktop GUI import is not claimed. STATUS Prototype; Manyfold publication approved by Rob on 2026-10-08. Rob reports the fit test is printing; physical fit and strength remain unverified. The reserved mbr54808 is retained for the same physical piece. The original verified v7 source is frozen locally; your Downloads copy is untouched. See Verification-report.txt and the separate v8-source-and-checks.zip for measurements, scripts and editable geometry.
